ALFA 159

The 159 was introduced in 2005 at the motor show in Geneva and was intended to compete directly with Germany's luxury brands, trying very hard to make the 159 to the same level as their German rival.

The chassis was originally designed by a joint venture between Fiat and General Motors as a premium platform. This platform was originally planned for Cadillac, Buick and Saab and Alfa Romeo for their executive cars segment, such as 166.

They then added the platform to the 159 model making it more comfortable than the 156, also adding a high level of passive safety and the torsional rigidity of the chassis being one of the best in its category.
